South West Mounties MAGIC Netball is thrilled to announce the appointment of Pamela Hansen to its Board of Directors. With her 50 years’ experience in the netball community (including coaching, umpiring and playing A grade for Curl Curl Netball Club) and 25 years’ the Clubs industry, Pamela is poised to bring valuable leadership and insight to South West Mounties MAGIC as it continues to grow its presence and impact in New South Wales netball.

Pamela brings a wealth of experience to the role, and as a formal netball player and umpire, Pamela is particularly passionate about the development of young female athletes and theshowcasing the importance of women’s leadership in sports.

“Netball is a sport that’s very close to my heart. I played and umpired for most of my life, and my daughter and granddaughter currently play, so I’m heavily involved in the sport and see how important it is for young girls and women to be involved in sports. While it’s certainly getting better, women’s sport still isn’t recognised and valued as well as it should be.” said Pamela.

Netball is the number one female sport in Australia according to AusPlay data, with the most common age for taking up the sport being 8 years old. Through her new role on the Board of South West Mounties MAGIC Netball, Pamela aims to create opportunities for women to rise to leadership positions in their local community, helping to inspire the next generation of female athletes.

“Players, coaches and umpires are role models to encourage younger ones at a grassroots level to be involved, drive investment, further the sport and improve sports policies – particularly around equality. We encourage women to empower themselves and be involved in their local community in Mounties Group, and I’m keen to bring this to the South WestMounties MAGIC Netball team to further the great work they are already doing.” she said.

Pamela currently serves as Vice President on the Mounties Group Board, and has beenserving as Director on the Mounties Group Board for 18 months.
